Tonight: The Heroes Season 4 Premiere!

It’s been five long months of waiting… and it’s finally here! Season 4 of Heroes begins tonight with the two-hour premiere of “Orientation” and “Jump, Push, Fall” to kick off Volume 5: Redemption. We couldn’t be more excited! Tune into NBC at 8/7c and don’t miss a single second of the all new Heroes action!

NBC vs. Netflix, On Demand Content On the Way Out?

Update

Netflix has responded to my inquiries with NBC Universal. Apparently the NBC employees aren’t sure as to what is going on so they forwarded my requests to Netflix. The official response: “Netflix has a long standing relationship with NBC Universal and titles regularly come in and out of availability. There is a natural ebb and flow to what we have available at any given point in time.”

I’m not buying any of this and have asked for more information. The removal of NBC’s top shows isn’t “natural ebb and flow” in my opinion. We’ll keep you updated.

Apparently NBC doesn’t want their content to be viewed instantly by millions of Netflix subscribers. According to the Netflix Queue, certain NBC shows will no longer be available after October 1st of this year. From what we can tell these shows include Heroes, The Office, 30 Rock and Friday Night Lights. Although NBC is a backer and supporter for Hulu it’s still surprising that they don’t feel the need for their content to be available via Netflix. Is this NBC vs. iTunes all over again or is there no chance for the shows to return? I’m sure this all comes down to money and it’s disappointing to say the least. This puts a stop to an exciting Xbox Live feature we were looking forward to. On Demand Heroes parties, where up to 8 people can view an episode at a time together. It could very well be a mistake but I doubt it since there’s a report that CBS shows are being pulled as well. All in all we’ve scoured the web and there’s very little information available about this topic right now. We’re very curious to see what the mass media has to say and we’ll update this story as we get more information. One interesting thing to note is that Heroes Season 3 does not have an end date like the rest of the NBC shows. Maybe they’ll keep the most current season and this is an attempt to bump up DVD sales? Let’s hope Netflix and/or NBC releases an official statement soon.

San Diego Comic Con 2009 (Roll Call)

Comic Con 2009 in San Diego is quickly approaching (July 23-26) and although we will not have a panel at Comic Con this year we will have a “Presence” (Hey, just like Heroes!)

Derek and Myself will be in attendance again, and as we’ve said before, the best part about Comic Con is getting to meet and hang out with many of you while we’re all down in San Diego enjoying the great food, great weather, and the most amazing comic & pop-culture convention in the world!

We’re going to have many meet-ups/tweet-ups while we’re there. So, If you know you’ll be at Comic Con drop a comment on this post, send us an e-mail to sdcc@heroespodcast.com & follow us on Twitter. We’ll be tweeting & e-mailing regularly while we’re at the convention, and we’ll also be sending out notifications about when/where we’ll be meeting up with folks.

Heroes returns tonight!

Tonight, the best show on television returns with not one, but two episodes back-to-back!

We’re surely going to see the Heroes equivalent of a knock-out punch. The fun will begin tonight at 8pm Eastern with an hour long Premiere Party and clips show. Then Season 3 will officially premiere at 9pm EST with the first episode, “The Second Coming” and the fun will not stop there, the episode will roll right into episode 3×02 “The Butterfly Effect” at 10pm EST.

Don’t forget! We’re going live tonight at 7:30pm Eastern with a pre-show and we’ll be back on the air at 1am Eastern to give our reactions. Be sure to join us at live.heroespodcast.com!

We are proud to finally announce that our new forums community is now open!

Why the move?

We announced a while back that we wanted to merge our forums with our sister show, Starkville’s House of El. After much thought and planning we have purchased vBulletin, a forum script that is leaps and bounds better than our current forums. When we sat down to think about the logistics of merging our two huge forums it began to dawn on us that it wasn’t going to be likely that we’d be able to pull it off without major problems since several users have accounts on both forums, etc. We thought long and hard and came to the decision to start fresh at our new community and ask everyone to register new accounts.

What’s going to happen to the old forum?

They aren’t going anywhere. After 5 days we’re going to close our old 10th Wonder forums off to new registrations lock all of the forums. You’ll always be able to access the old forums at their archive address: http://old.heroespodcast.com You’ll be able to visit the old forums and peruse them much like a museum. Once this happens the current URL http://forums.heroespodcast.com will be redirected to our new forums

We hope you all enjoy the new forums community, we’re certainly excited about merging our two communities, and creating a stronger and better community in the process. Thank you all for your patience, and support!

Comic-Con: Let It Begin!

We know it’s been quiet around here lately, but that’s about to change drastically! Comic-Con officially kicks off Thursday morning and today Derek and I are driving from Los Angeles to San Diego to enjoy “Preview Night.” We have also heard from many of you that you’ll be in town for the convention this weekend and we want to make sure that we meet as many of you as possible! Stay glued to our Twitter for up-to-the-minute details on our location. We’ll also be updating the main website here whenever we’ve got great Heroes news and information!

Once again our panel is Saturday afternoon from 1:00-2:00pm in Room 24A. We know we’ll see a lot of folks there, but we’re also aware that several other panels are going on at the same time, so if you miss our panel don’t worry! We’re planning an off-site meet-up near the convention center on Saturday night. Stay tuned to our website and Twitter for more details on that.

If you need to contact us while we’re at the Con, we’ve created a special e-mail address that will push to mine and Derek’s cell phone’s (The power! Please don’t abuse it!) We’ll do our best to reply if you’re having trouble finding us.

The Big News

We announced in our latest episode the big news that we’ve been teasing you guys about. All of our podcasts will be represented at Comic Con International in San Diego this summer! Not only will we be in attendance, we will be having a special 90-minute panel with all three shows! We will have time for a great Q&A session, and possibly enough time to record a live episode of one of our shows. We’re super excited about this and now we definitely cannot wait for Comic Con! We’ve been working for the past couple of weeks to put together a new look for our site and we’ve finally launched it today. We recently picked up the expired domain HeroesPodcast.com and redirected it to our site. We remember keeping an eye on this domain back when we first had the idea for our show in 2006, but it was already in use. We just noticed this past week that it had expired over a month ago and so we took the liberty of buying it up. It’s easier to remember and it matches our heroespodcast@gmail.com e-mail address, too! So from now on you can use heroespodcast.com to reach the 10th Wonder Podcast website. The more you know!

Macworld, and the return of The 10th Wonder

Hey guys! Long time no podcast, huh? We understand completely, and we’re just as bored as you are, I assure you. The truth is: there hasn’t been a lot of news coming from the Heroes universe as of late, but don’t fret! We’re not just sitting around. We’re gathering as much news as we can, as well as working on some extras and asking a few guests to join us for a new episode of our podcast after next week. So don’t worry, we will be returning soon!

Meanwhile, I want to send out a notice to all of our listeners in San Francisco, and to anyone who may be attending the annual Macworld conference in San Francisco. I, Graham, will be making the trip out to Macworld this year, not only because I’m a stark-raving Apple fanboy, but because I’m helping a friend launch a new business venture (More news on that later). As always, when I travel, I like to see how many of our listeners I might could say hello to while I’m there. So if you’re in the Bay Area, or if you will be at Macworld send me an e-mail and let me know.

I will be in San Francisco from Sunday to Thursday. So if you’re going to be in the area, shoot me an e-mail or follow me on Twitter to find out where I’ll be at any given time and I would love to chat. Hey guys! Derek and I are heading in two directions today. Derek is headed to Baltimore, Maryland, and I am headed to Los Angeles, California! I finished editing our latest podcast at 3:00am, and had to leave town at 4:00am. So I got about 30 minutes of sleep, but I know it’s worth it! My flight leaves soon so I wanted to drop a quick note to everyone to remind you to stay tuned to our website this weekend. Hey guys! We want to apologize, we did record our episode on schedule this Tuesday, but some technical difficulties, and our crazy schedule leading into this weekend has kept me from being able to edit the episode fully. Sometime Friday I expect to make the episode live for everyone, but I will not have enough time to complete the AAC before we leave town for Dragon*Con!

Lots of you have been asking about where we are going to be during the Con. Derek and I are making a huge effort to be at all of the Heroes related panels on the Sci-Fi Track!

As discussion about Heroes picks up more speed, the more e-mails we are recieving asking why there hasn’t been a podcast yet for the month of July. We know you guys are concerned, but call off the search parties because we are coming back this week!

July was supposed to be a relatively laid back month for Tucker and I, prompting us to make the promise that we would return to podcasting early this month. We had no idea the amount of work we would be involved in as soon as the month turned over.

I have been working non-stop to finish a project for John Schneider in time to be included on a DVD that hits stores on September 18, and Tucker has been working on a feature film since early June. So getting ourselves and our resources together this month has been nothing short of impossible.

But that’s about to change. This week, we’re making it up to you with a packed podcast full of all of the latest Heroes news and information, including a special in-depth look at the Heroes presence at the San Diego Comic-Con! So stay tuned, and be sure to check the feed this week!

Chapter 31

Due to work and travel schedules, Tucker and I must wait until June 4th to record our Chapter 31 podcast. That episode of our podcast will largely be a Q&A episode led by all of you guys. Tucker will also be spending some time going over his thoughts about the season finale since he was not able to join us last week. Our Chapter 31 will also be our only episode for the month of June as we are taking a break for the first part of the summer.

I want to thank everyone who has sent along their best wishes for my family. None of my family members who are sick are out of the woods just yet, but all of them are quite amazed that support is coming to them from all over the world.

An update on our delay…

I just got off the phone with Tucker and he has told me that, because he has two family members in the hospital, he will not be able to do the podcast this week. He also mentioned to me that he really appreciates all of the outpouring of support from our listeners on both our website here, and the many e-mails we have received since mentioning this yesterday.

Tucker has asked Derek (from the House of El Podcast) to take his place during this week’s podcast in the interest of making the podcast available within a reasonable amount of time.

Derek and I recorded the episode this morning, and it is another quality 10th Wonder podcast for sure, but I am well aware that you guys want to hear what Tucker thinks about the finale as well. Many of our topics this week were specifically chosen by Tucker, but we know it’s just not the same. So when Tucker returns next week I am going to ask him to go in detail about his thoughts on the finale for you guys. Also, you can submit your own specific questions to Tucker. Next week’s podcast is going to be largely a Q&A session led by our listeners! (See Above).

So do not fret– the 10th Wonder’s analysis of the Heroes Season 1 Finale is coming your way Friday, and though it will seem a little different without Tucker, we’ll certainly get him to talk at length about his thoughts on the finale during our next podcast.

Finale podcast postponed

We apologize, but circumstances beyond our control have forced us to delay this week’s podcast.

A family emergency has prompted Tucker to leave town. I am waiting to hear from him about when he’ll likely be able to return and do the 10th Wonder, but podcasting does not have priority over family. If Tucker informs me that he needs to remain home, I may ask Derek (From the House of El Podcast) to join me on the 10th Wonder this week in Tucker’s absence. If that is the case then we expect to have the podcast up at some point late Thursday or Friday.

Power Outage

10th Wonder on Fridays during hiatus

New episodes of the 10th Wonder each week will be posted on Friday instead of Wednesday during the Heroes hiatus. We’ve decided to do this for two reasons:

Recording our shows later in the week will allow for us to cover all of the Heroes happenings for the previous week, giving us more to cover in our podcast during the hiatus.
Scheduling concerns for Tucker and I during the hiatus make this a necessity to make sure we have enough preparation time to maintain the quality of the podcast.

We know you guys understand, and we appreciate it. After Apr. 23rd we’ll revert back to our normal schedule. Look for a new episode of the 10th Wonder in your iTunes playlist this Friday.

Headed Home

With any luck we’ll finally get some much needed information but we also have this foreboding feeling that this episode is going to create a truckload of more questions and speculation. “Homecoming” Preparations

It seems as though the cryptic “Save the Cheerleader” bump has been appearing randomly after promotional spots for other NBC shows. Now that is cool! It seems as though NBC is making some preparations for a huge episode this Monday!

Well, so are we! We’re hoping to have our podcast episode out extra early this week for two reasons: 1) A highly anticipated and incredibly important episode of HEROES, and 2) Turkey day! We will be recording our show Monday night, and putting out the episode early on Tuesday as soon as we possibly can.

So look for our latest podcast covering “Homecoming” on Tuesday! If you send any e-mail or voicemail our way, make sure to send it within an hour after Heroes on Monday (Central Standard Time) so we can read it on the show! Thanks!

We don’t know what blows us away more. Our sources who say that tonight’s episode of HEROES will be the best one we’ve seen yet. Or you guys for keeping us in the iTunes Top 100 all week long! Thanks to your dedication and support we are getting some opportunities to make our podcast even better. Exciting things are happening all around and we are just along for the ride! But at the moment we are getting mentally prepared for what we’re likely to see tonight on our favorite new show.

Welcome to the new 10th Wonders website! We’ve moved away from our blogspot in favor of this more functional wordpress engine. This allows us to consolidate our feeds and customize just about everything, so we’re happy with it! All we have to say is, Wow! We are recieving a ton of e-mail from you guys! Thank you so much for all of your questions, comments and criticisms! This show is for all of you and we are thrilled that you guys are so responsive! We are hard at work making our show even better for you!

While we haven’t had a concrete release schedule we’ve aimed at having an episode up every Wednesday. However, the Enhanced AAC content takes a little more time to construct and this week is proving to be particularly busy for the the 10th Wonders team. We will upload our 4th Chapter as soon as possible.

Sneak Peek: Improvements to our podcast!

We are pleased to announce a few changes that will make The 10th Wonder Podcast even better! Here are just a few of the changes that we believe will make our podcast more enjoyable for you guys!

We will give a quick recap of the episodes we’re discussing at the beginning of each podcast.
We’re moving away from our format of discussing things character-by-character, and moving towards a topic based format. We’ll go over all of the popular theories and attack many of the questions that Heroes fans are asking.
We’re making an effort to become an “Enhanced Podcast” with interactive artwork that will change along with our topic of discussion and also divide the episode up into chapters for easy navigation within the episode.
We will implement these changes this week as we move towards a weekly instead of a bi-weekly format.

We’re excited about these changes and we’re eager to hear what you think. Look for our new episode on Wednesday or earlier.
