HI Joe and Graham,
I must say I love your podcast and want to thank you for all your hardwork. It’s been tough to be a fan of this show sometimes with the seemingly endless bad press. Maybe the show just tried to be too many different things. But I fell hard for the characters and that kept me going. You guys help offset the bad press and the negative vibes growing on the N but C forums. (seems network forums draw nothing but criticism).
That said, The Wall reflects what could’ve really made this show a big hit – focus on character. And even though the Wall metaphor wasn’t the most subtle ever (heck Heroes aren’t a subtle bunch really) I think this episode really made you think. And I loved it. So sad to see the finale and really, really hoping the powers that be muster the right alignment of the stars to get us at least one more season that potentially could be phenomenal.
Kudos, guys,
Bonita
I think the zinger for this season is Sylar will die (Nooooooooo!) trying to redeem himself (saving Thousands vs. his serial killing victims (shades of Grey). Once dead, his body still alive Nathan will come back.
I bet there will even be a touching scene where Sylar gives up his name and saves Peter sacrificing himself, then as they switch control of the body Nathan thanks and forgives Gabriel who will claim to not be worth it, then call Peter his brother as fate keeps pushing him to be.
Parkman will disobey his wife and run to help and she will throw down the “or I will leave you ultimatum” at which time he will get a glance that she has been hiding something, and when she won’t tell him he probes her mind and finds out that the child is not his, she just named it after him and is afraid and wants him for his powers… not for love.
(Seeing from the trailer), I really think Sylar will be a Hero by the end of this season, and I don’t see what’s wrong with that. Unless… he does *something* in the end… which would be stupid. What do you guys think about Sylar being a Hero?
@WolvenSpectre: Adrian Pasdar (Nathan Petrelli) is not going to be in the show anymore!! Read the news, man.
I have felt since the beginning of the nathan’s mind is sylar’s thing that this was a chance for the writers to change Sylar’s personality in a reasonable way. If just enough of Nathan is left to make Sylar want to be a good person then it makes the whole thing far more interesting.
There are three things in Sylar that are different from any time in his life that will affect who he is:
Hiro’s statement about is grim future (whether true now or not)
Lydia’s power of empathy, it has to have some good affect on Sylar
the memories from Nathan and Matt that remain in his psyche
I see Sylar trying to be good, feeling conflicted, but not wholly bad again. The others will have to stop hacking on him as well, as Sylar needs the approbation of the people around him. This will lend him a more interesting note than just being the Villain.
Peter did not forgive Sylar but he is a step closer to accepting his desire to be a better person. And who would be good at teaching him that…Peter, of course. It was both Peter’s acceptance of Sylar’s wants, and Sylar’s desire to get out of the nightmare that brought the wall down.

It seems when Sylar and Peter made a connection the wall came down does that mean that pete had to feel empathy. Beyond just a single touch.
