Breaking: Heroes Origins Cancelled?

TV Guide has contacted us with some disheartening news: Heroes Origins is being pulled off the table. The six-episode mini-series was supposed to begin running in mid-April.

Sources for TV Guide say that fear of an impending strike of the Writers Guild of America is the main reason why NBC has stopped the project. The strike, which will affect nearly every show on network television, has been brewing for weeks now and may come to a head Thursday night when the WGA’s contract expires. It is expected that NBC will revisit its decision to scrap the project if the labor dispute is resolved quickly.

WHAT!! thats like the most horrible news aside from cancelling the original series. I mean every step of the way thus far NBC has shown its appreciation of their heroes fans in spades. But this is a major blow and the fanbase will cetainly make its views known quickily. I hope Tim Kring and/or Jeph Loeb make a statement explaining the changes and why they felt it had to go this way.

I think that NBC is just preparing for the worst. Writing hasn’t begun for the project yet, and if the labor dispute is drawn-out then it would be foolish to green light Origins without writing staff. Of course, with no writing staff our second pod of episodes will also be delayed… here’s hoping that the strike is settled quickly!

I think once everything is worked out with the WGA, they’ll get the green light. Never fear, these problems are usually ironed out.

Not good… I was hoping that the second half of the season and Origins would make up for the apathetic story lines so far (i.e. claire/maja-alejandro/monica-micah). I hope this is resolved and Origins is a go.

Is NBC trying to mess up Heroes, I know that the strike is not their fault and I would rather have a quality Origins than one half put together. But first was the whole itunes, nbc website fiasco, Then there is the not signing candice before she jumped to another show, what next?

  6. The CA Source says:

Although I am disappointed by this decision, as a writer myself, I still support the strike for residual entitlement.

I hope they get this resolved… it would really stink if it was Origins was cancelled for good…

  8. Joachim says:

I really wanted to see this series. If this is the case I can just be bored.
