Chapter 41: Betty (Part 3 of 4)
It’s Graphic Novel day once again! Chapter 41: Betty (Part 3 of 4) was posted to the official Heroes website today. The graphic novel comes in two flavors: interactive or printable [PDF].
If you’re not familiar with the graphic novel, you should be! (You can read all of the past graphic novels here.) In most cases they pick up right where the television show leaves you and fill in additional back story between episodes.

A social outcast, Betty was teased mercilessly by her fellow high school students. Discovering her power to create illusions, Betty quickly turned the tables on her tormentors, even driving one bully into a state of permanent dementia. She soon learned, however, that her actions would have dire consequences…

I’m glad that there is only one part left to this story. I started to like Candace at the end of the season, but I don’t really like this story.

If Betty = Candace, which at this point seems pretty likely, this story serves as decent back story for her. This arc is sort of what I am expecting to see in the Heroes: Origin series… Normal people faced with the prospect of having superhuman abilities and how they deal with it.
Betty learned the hard way that her powers could hurt and possibly take away the only friend she had.
By working with Linderman, Candace thought she was using her powers for the greater good. She even showed restraint in what she made people see. I seem to recall her threatening someone (Micah? Bennet? I can’t remember…) with “the horrors she could make them see if she wanted to.”
Like you, I’m ready for this arc to wrap up, because I’m anxious to see what’s next.
As for Part 4… my guess is they’ll reveal that Betty is Candace… and she’ll meet Mr. Thompson, much like the Haitian did at the end of Graphic Novel #38.

Im SOOOOOOOOOO SLOW!!! in the head
Just after reading the 3 out of 4 betty series graphic novel i peiced together that betty=candice? go figures i’m a little long on brain juice
