NBC Orders Second Heroes Series

From SCIFIwire:

NBC announced that it has ordered six segments of a new series called Heroes: Origins, which will air in the main show’s Monday-night timeslot when it goes on hiatus, Variety reported.

The new series will center on new characters that haven’t yet been introduced on the original show, and will feature an interactive element. Viewers will have a chance to vote for their favorite character, who will later cross over to the regular Heroes.

According to Variety, the move is intended to avoid repeats, which have been earning record low ratings this year on all five networks. (NBC is owned by NBC Universal, which also owns SCIFI.COM.)

ummmmm, sounds like it would be fun to watch. More heroes and more abilites sound good.

However, i doubt it will recive the same amount of effort into producing as the original series

And the whole interactive voting scares me a bit as i’m not a big fan of reality television and game shows

    but we’ll see what happens.

Well, in theory, this is a good idea. By airing this show during the main Heroes hiatus, they keep the show first and foremost in viewers minds. My concern is that it will probably be worked on by people who aren’t currently running the main show. My guess is since Crossing Jordan got the ax, they may transport that production team to Heroes 2. Will they be able to catch magic in a bottle twice? I most certainly hope so. I also think this voting idea is lame. You can blame American Idol for that.
