“Six Months Ago” Impressions

I don’t think any of us here at the 10th Wonder were prepared for what we witnessed tonight. Heroes is honestly a series that consistently blows us away from week to week! What follows are a few key observations from tonights episode: “Six Months Ago”

Meet Gabriel Gray a.k.a. Sylar - My favorite part of tonight’s episode was the excellent character development for Sylar. We slowly get to see him develop his ‘motives’ per say. He says it himself: “My whole life [...] I’ve wanted to be different, to be special, to change, to have a new name, a new life.” We also get a glimpse into what his “true” ability may be. More on that during our podcast because we could literally devote this entire post to our Sylar observations from tonight.

R.I.P. Jessica – We got some pretty deep details into Jessica’s past tonight. Jessica was Niki’s sister and their dad (Hal) abused Jessica as a child which is probably the reason for Jessica’s premature Death. Niki has forgotten her dad’s actions over the years. This finally adds more color to Niki/Jessica’s character! Any theories about how/why Jessica has come back?
Hiro Fails to Save Charlie - in an emotional (and somewhat confusing) turn of events, we learn Hiro can’t save Charlie. She will die of an aneurysm anyway. This is yet another devastating blow to Hiro that causes him to lose his usual playful demeanor. He confesses that “This power is bigger than me” We predicted that something along these lines might happen to Peter in the form of one of his closest friends. Seems we were almost right.

Dreams vs. Reality - Peter has an interesting dream of Nathan flying away from a car chase, leaving his wife in peril (Explaining her paralysis and consequently why Nathan is so abhorrent about his ability.) Peters dream was very real and happened in concurrence with reality much like the Sanjob influenced dreams that Mohinder had. We know that Peter has been having dreams for a while and apparently still does. Is Sanjob to blame?

Linderman - The mysterious mobster’s name is dropped frequently again. Linderman and his connections with the Petrelli family apparently go very far back, so much that Nathan feels that he must clear their name to make things right. Which begs the question, why work with him? Perhaps Nathan is practicing the old proverb: Keep your friends close, your enemies closer?

Those are just a few of our observations from tonight. There is so much more to talk about though! We are hard at work preparing this week’s podcast for you all. Please discuss amongst yourselves and feel free to e-mail us (Heroespodcast@gmail.com) and voicemail us (Skype: TenthWonder) with your thoughts about tonight’s episode.

Look for our next podcast very soon!

I know that “The Watchmen” has influenced the writers as well as the creator, but !!!, Gabriel being the son of a watchmaker is so similar to Doctor Manhattan! Kudos to those guys for referencing Alan Moore’s work.

Something about the previous comment — though it had really nothing to do with it — reminded me of the watchmaker analogy for creationism/evolution. That is, if you look at a watch, you can tell that a watchmaker was involved in its creation and therefore you can tell by looking at humans that there was some agent involved in their design (ie god).

It’s evident from this episode that Gray/Sylar sees himself as an agent driving evolution. Kind of like the self-designated watchmaker — who, of course, stands for God in that analogy.

Here is what my take is. Well we obviously know that Jessica was abused. Jessica was supposivly a shield for Niki and would take all of the abuse to save her sister. I think that this side has corrupted her into an evil being, obviously. The wierd thing is that Niki changes back and forth to Jessica… That is not to wierd but the wierd part is sometimes she see’s Jessica as a second person.

My theory is that Jessica possibly is some sort of ghost that can take control of Niki. Some sort of power allows her soul to carry on even after her death to seek revenge on everyone… Jessica really does not seem to have a motive for her actions beside her bad childhood. She was taken advantage of and she sees the only way possible to gain power over others is to have money. Which is the reason why she made niki still the money(even though she was jessica at the time). Maybe Jessica has totaly lost her mind and just goes on rampages… But we do know that Niki cared greatly for her son. When she asked Jessica to get her daughter back obviously Jessica would do it for her sister, since she is her shield and her protection during their fathers abuse. Even though Jessica wants her son back she does not have the evil spirit it takes to get her son back. Therefore asking for Jessica and causing Jessica to do the dirty work, as she did in the past(AKA the abuse).

The wierd thing is Jessica got her in the whole situation to begin with… Seems like Niki would see Jessica as a bad person, but I guess Niki is also greedy and wants the money also…

The tatoo seems to only be there when Niki turns into Jessica. We do not know the significance of it yet but maybe Niki has a matching one… Not sure on this yet.
